Lifetime 71566 XL Portable Basketball System with 50-Inch Shatter Guard Backboard
I purchased this for my kids to use who are just getting into basketball. It was easier to set up then I thought I would be. The only trouble I had was with the last bolt and I needed help from my wife at that point. But prior to that, everything was done by myself. (Be careful hammering on any of the bolts because you will damage the threads and make the bolt unusable.)
It is very sturdy and very easy to adjust the height of the goal. It also is easy to move around in the drive way. I filled my base with water. Make sure you use some non-corrosive anti-freeze product if you live somewhere where this is needed. Since we just got it if anything changes we will let you know.
The kids think it is great and way cooler than anyone else’s on our block.

I’ve seen goals with comparable features in retail sporting stores that sell for up to $500.
I’ve owned this goal for about six months, and have been very pleased with it. It has stood up to heavy use and weather with no signs of wear. I am docking it a star because while assembly isn’t difficult, it could have been made easier.

I purchased the hoop for my little girl’s 10th birthday. I searched for price, backboard size and thickness, and positive reviews. The Lifetime 71566 XL seemed to have the best. Instructions were complete and in English. All parts were accounted for. I was able to assemble it alone in my garage in about 6 hours. Would recommend the purchase of a large funnel and 300-400 lbs. of “fine” play sand prior to assembly. I struggled with the coarser “tube” sand recommended by another reviewer.
We shot baskets and and the family enjoys the goal, particularly the easy to use height adjustment handle. No backboard problems in the first month. Best looking hoop is a nice neighborhood. Not sure if this is the right goal for “bangers”. I probably would have spent more money and would have purchase a “fixed” goal for a “high flying” teenage boy. Hope this review helps.
